Noel Gallagher recording solo record?

Brit Rock Icon and former Oasis member Noel Gallagher has been rumoured to be working on a solo record in LA. The You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi tweeted "Can hear Noel from Oasis blasting his new tunes from the studio next door. Absolutely mental". You Me At Six are also in LA currently recording their studio album.
When asked Noel has denied that he has been working on any sort of solo project, but as usual his charismatic brother Liam claim that Noel is defiantly working on something, and is interested to hear it to see if he features on it or not.
Liam recently released his first album with his new band Beady eye and also got a slot to perform at this year Reading and Leeds Festival, so is Noel going to step out of the shadows this year and release a Solo Record to compete with his brother, and reignite the ever so heated sibling rivalry.

The Darkness rejoin for Download festival!

The UK's favourite glam rock band The Darkness have reformed back to the original line up to play at Download festival in mid June. The band first split five years ago after disagreements between the two brothers of the band Justin Hawkin (vocals) and Dan Hawkin (guitar).
Justin first left the band due to drug and alcohol problems and then went onto writing music for films and the odd solo project such as being a contender to represent UK in the Eurovision song contest.

The band that have won three Brits in their career and sold over four million albums have stated that they are still scared of playing Download even though they have played at Download in 2003. Whether they are scared or not they are looking forward to starting the new chapter in their rock journey.

Rock n Roll Fall of Fame 2011 Inductees

The Rock n Roll Fall of Fame is scheduled for the 16th of March and will in fact be its 25th anniversary of the ceremony. Pretty special as artists have to wait 25 years before they are eligible for induction. The Inductees for this years ceremony are :

Alice Cooper                                Darlene Love
Neil Diamond                               Tom Waits
Dr John

Alice Cooper a band that was created 40 years ago, could be named as one of the most influential bands of Rock n Roll. One of the first to take stage shows to a whole new level sometimes adding theatrical performances and great stagecraft often involving snakes, electric chairs blood and pyrotechnics. With out Alice Cooper it is hard to say whether bands such as SlipKnot, Nine Inch Nails, Kiss, Marilyn Manson would even exist. Even in the days of the mordern music artist such as Metallica and Lady Gaga have been known to say that Alice Cooper had an influence on them.
With hits such as "I'm Eighteen"and "Schools Out" and "Poison" it is truly evident that Alice Cooper had a huge part to play in shaping the sound of Heavy Metal.

Reading Festival 2011 Line up Rumours

Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance

The Reading Festival is possibly the most anticipated festival of this year set to take place on the 26-28th of August. One of the many talking points about the Festival is the fact that the Line up does not get released till the tickets go on sale.
Obviously every music fan wants to know who's performing at a concert before they buy the ticket for it, so its important us music fans to have at least an idea of who could be performing at Reading 2011. Reading's chief organiser Melvin Benn has confirmed that he has booked three headlines for 2011 who will not be headlining at any other festival! That bit of information automatically rules out  Bon Jovi, Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay.

So who's going to headline this summers biggest festival!? There is huge speculation that the big three could involve Green Day, My chemical Romance and Muse. There is also a a conspiracy that the Foo Fighters could headline, but that may not be a strong lead as we know they are Headlining Oxegen festival in Ireland. Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance recently announced at a UK gig that they would be back in the Summer to perform at an open air Festival in the UK, so it is more then likely they will perform at the Reading Festival !!
Other bands that have been rumoured to perform at the Festival Include Funeral Party as they confirmed their appearance when being interviewed on Radio 1. The Noisettes have confirmed an appearance as well as Two Door Cinema Club.

This years Festival is set to be as good as ever, but with an apparent rise in this year ticket prices and rise in demand will we all get our hands on the ultimate tickets this summer?

Foo Fighters soon to release new album

The Foo Fighters, fronted by Dave Grohl recently crowned A Godlike Genius by NME are to release their new album "Wasting Light" on April the 11th.
The band, who have been responsible for some of the best hard rock songs of this millennium have said they have planned out the album tracklist as if they were playing a live set list. They have already released a single from the album prior to its released "The Rope" and it is everything you would expect from the guitar thrashing, gun fire drumming band with Dave Grohl standing out with his over powering vocals but in turn sounding more medolic with Grohl howling and Led Zepplin style bouncy opening riffs.
Foo Fighters havent tried to change their sound or attempted to change their musical direction which is good news for all as previous Foo Fighters material can hardly be slated.
The Track List for " Wasting Light" is:

5.Arlandria
6.These Days
7.Back & Forth

Axl Rose, the legendary front man of the worlds most notorious band Guns n ' Roses last year filed a $20 million  lawsuit against game designer Activision Blizzard. British band Mumford & Sons have become the first band since 2009 to reach 1 million record sales in the UK and in the US. The last band to do that was Coldplay with the album "Viva la Vida" which was released in 2008.
Mumford and Sons have achieved this with their debut album "Sigh no more" much of the success of this was due to their high profile performance and the recent Grammys.

Slash to sell his Guitar Collection

Ex Guns 'n' Roses guitarist Slash is set to auction off a number of prize possessions including numerous guitars one of which was the acoustic guitar used in the Guns 'n' Roses hit 'Patience'.
Slash has said that due to a recent house move "he has a bad habit of collecting stuff that I don't necessarily use". Other items to be autioned by the Velvet Revolver guitarist are two of his iconic Top Hats and many leather jackets and t shirts. A 1966 Corvette Stringray will also be up for auction, he said he is sad to let it go as it was "a monster of a car" and was one of the first car's he ever brought in his career.
The auction will be held on the 26th of March by Julien's auctions, with a generous slice of the proceedings going towards a charity for homeless and abused teenagers.

Arctic monkey's Alex Turner goes solo !

Alex Turner the front man of Arctic Monkeys is set to release his first Solo EP. The EP will consist of six tracks to feature on the film " The Submarine" based on the novel from Joe Dunthorne. It is said to be made up of Acoustic guitars, paino, and Alex turners unmistakable vocals to be released on 14th March 2011.

EP track listing :-
1. Stuck On The Puzzle(Intro)
2. Hiding Tonight
3. Glass In The Park
4. It's Hard To Get Around The Wind
5. Stuck On The Puzzle
6. Piledriver Waltz

I personally think this is will be a great success for the young musician who already has an army of worshippers. He has a great buzz around him and is very hard to dislike, but could this bring a strain on the foundations of the Arctic Monkeys, will he still give 100% to Arctic Monkeys or to himself
Will the solo venture be a success ?
Will he play some tracks at V festival?

Phil Collins Quits Music

Ex Genesis drummer Phil Collins has announced that he has quit music all together. With a career spanning more than 30 years in the music industry and a solo career that has made more than 150 million record sales. Phil collins finally shuts up shop due to ill health problems such as a dislocated spine with nerve damage often leaving him struggling to play the drums.
Collins had previously stated to FHM that he is sorry that his career was such a success, he didn't mean it to happen like that. Makes us think he is no longer bothered about his achievements and hardly proud of his success.
Is this the last time we see Phil Collins in the business?
What were you views on his career?

Liam Gallagher's New Band Beady Eye

After the Break up of arguably the Best British band of the past 20 years Oasis. Liam Gallagher and co have abandoned Noel after a final bust up between the brothers prior to an Oasis gig in Paris to create a new band named Beady Eye.
Beady Eye have released their debut album "different gear, still speeding" and all in all it came across well receive by many considering it had to match up to the impressively high standard of the Oasis albums. Liam had said he was influenced by his icon John Lennon and the Stones, and that is evident throughout. Although initially Liam brings a great magic to the songs throughout the albums it can be seen as rather dull and slow.
The Legendary front man and his new band Performed each song at a recent gig in Scotland where the fans loved the new sound showering Liam with pints of beer much to displeasure after his Pretty Green jacket was vitually ruined but all round the show was seen as a success by the band and its critics.

How do you feel about Beady Eye?
Is Noel Gallagher going to be missed or forgotten?

Arctic Monkeys Release New Single

The Arctic Monkeys, currently working on a fourth studio album in California have released a single from the album  " Brick by Brick". The song is a changed sound from the previous album humbug released in 2009, which is probably a good thing as many fans felt the album was good but not raw and exciting enough. The Single's sound reminds of the early oasis days, with the lyrics being crooned beautiful by the unmistakable Alex Turner.Matched equally by the whining guitars and bouncy rift throughout. Brick by Brick sounds exciting and raw and would most definatly be getting fans excited for the upcoming release of thier fourth album and for the V Festival perofrmances in the Summer.
Give it a listen below and tell us what you think!

Former Guns n Roses guitarist Slash performs at SuperBowl 45! Review here!

Legendary Axe man Slash formerly part of one of the world biggest bands Guns n Roses took to the stage in the Super Bowls half time show. The Super Bowl is the biggest televised event of the sporting year, which is why only the biggest and best artists around the world have the honour to play the  Super bowls half time show. In recent years the acts have been huge such as Paul McCartney, The who, The rolling stones and now The Black eyed Peas and Slash.
This in my eyes was a terrible choice for half time entertainment and the reason I say that is this. The Super Bowl  is loved by a wide array of people but most noticeably Men. Now I've never known Men to be huge Black Eyed Peas fans which is why I think they made a bad choice after steering away from the rock n roll acts which have always gone down well amongst the fans.
Don't get me started on the Black Eyed Pea's talent to pull off a great live performance because the cant pull one off to save their lives, they sound nothing short of dreadful with all the silly sound effects and unedited vocals.
THANK THE LORD Slash Surprisingly rose up from the floor playing the well known Guns n Roses "Sweet child o'mine" intro to save our ears from bleeding and giving us some  well deserved entertainment, although it was short lived. The guitarist was looking cool as ever whilst rockin' on the worlds biggest stage, but all in all the performance wasn't great. The guitar wasn't sounding raw enough on the amp, and the solo was short, rushed and lacked excitement.

Slash's performance later sparked huge internet rumours and once again tempting critics and the press to start asking questions about a Guns n' Roses reunion. Slash had recently said that he would be willing reunite with the original Guns n Roses line up if the bands frontman Axl Rose apologised to him. Axl Rose has failed to comment on the matter, which makes me think Axl is dismissing the idea of a reunion once again. On the other hand it is rumoured that there are negotiations in place to get original Gun n Roses line up to reform for the Super Bowl 46 half time show. I imagine they would be throwing huge amounts of money at them in order to do that wihch could tempt both Rockers and also because it would be the most seen show of their Careers. ALL we can do is wait in hopes !
share your thoughts with me lets discuss :)
will they ever reform ?

Let it Rock! Festival Fever!

So the hype has begun over this summers music festivals which are bigger and more popular than ever! The main UK festivals the youth of today are going on about this year are Reading and Leeds Festival, V festival and Download.

V Festival have recently confirmed that the weekends headliners will be Eminem and Artic Monkeys, also romoured that Eminem will be joined by Rihanna on stage for a performance of 'Love the way you lie'. Eminem has spoke out and promised to make big Plans for his big UK performance. Other acts include Plan B, Bruno Mars, Tinie Tempah Pendulum amoungst others. Tickets for the festival will be on sale on the 4th of March!!

The Reading and Leeds festival is probably the most talked about festival in recent years due to the high profile line up in recent years, including Blink182, Artic monkeys, Guns n Roses and Foo Fighters. The line up does not get released until that start date the tickets go on sale which can be awkward as many fans and festival lovers will be buying they ticket just hoping they like the bands in a mad panic to secure a ticket. It is rumoured that Muse, My Chemical Romance and the Strokes could possibly be on the bill. This could once again be an awesome festival.

The Download festival is for the more hardcore Rock n Rolla's as Def Leppard once again confirm the headline spot along with System of a Down and Linkin Park. All strong headbanging acts and sure to give the crowd a great time!

I believe this year the V festival will be the most wanted as Eminem rarely makes it to the UK and also because of its more mainstream music feel. There is already a huge buzz going around the social networking sites about it.
